Electric Rites in Guinee Conakry
This documentary tells the attachment of the Guineans to the electric guitar. In the villages of Upper Guinea, griots and sorcerers and witch doctors have swapped their traditional instruments against the distorted electric guitars. Showing electric rituals in the bush and great musical scenes in the capital, this film celebrates the diversity of the Guinean culture. I am truly amazed by the fact that here you see that the guitar is implemented in a conscious way getting the same result: Going out of your mind, in a state of trance.
The Documentay is featured on this page: TV5 Monde+afrique and is Directed by Julien Raout Florian Draussin (Guinea Conakry / France, 2012). Enjoy.
